February 2012 Parish Update

Following our January Strategic Planning & Vestry meeting we asked for a revision of the conceptual drawings. The revised sketches are shown above.

After much work our architects, have presented us with a working concept of a future building for St. Paul's. The Strategic Planning Committee explored several viable options going forward including...

Do "Nothing" Option...

  • Maintaining our current building facility, while a tempting option, comes at a time when our current building is in need of major upgrades/repairs. Approximate $650,000 will be needed in the next 5-10 years to simply maintain our current building as is.

Repurpose an Existing building...

  • After exploring several buildings in the downtown Brighton Area, we have found that none of the currently vacant buildings would suit our current or future needs.

Move to a new site...

  • Even though there is a 7 acre site less than 2 miles from our current location, there is a sense from the congregation of wanting to stay in this current location. Our architects have determined that to develop a "green" site would cost approximately $5,000,000.

After thoroughly reviewing several options available to us at St. Paul's the Strategic Planning Committee recommends a combination of renovation and new construction on our current site. The following sketches represent the ongoing work of the Strategic Planning Committee, Vestry, Liturgical Consultant and Architects to provide for the future of St. Paul as we come to this important crossroad.  The cost of this option is approximately $2,900,000. Take some time to review the architect sketches. You will have an opportunity after church to comment or offer questions as we move forward.
