: : About St. Paul's

St. Paul's Episcopal Church welcomes you. Our church is located in one of the fastest growing areas of southeast Michigan. We are an inclusive and diverse faith community located in downtown Brighton by the Mill Pond, which seeks to be an open church, with open hearts, loving and serving God and all communities.

St. Paul's is the oldest worshipping community in Brighton, founded in 1878. There is a long tradition of being a place of welcome to all people. We have an active schedule of activities and events. Many of our social activities center around liturgical celebrations. Because we have so many people moving into the area (we have 5 different area codes in our parish directory!!), social events become a way to introduce and incorporate newcomers to the parish.

: : City of Brighton

Brighton is located in southeastern Michigan's Livingston County, approximately in the center of a cross between Detroit Metro area to the east, the State capitol, Lansing, to the west, Ann Arbor to the South and Flint to the north. It is served by I-96, an east-west expressway and U.S. 23, a north-south expressway.

Brighton was founded in 1832 by Maynard Maltby, and was originally named Ore Creek due to mineral deposits found in the area. Its inhabitants renamed it Brighton in 1838 after Brighton, New York, the town from which many of them originated. Brighton became a village in 1867 and a city in 1928. Many of the community's original homes and buildings are still in use today.
